Weber Connect App - WiFi

I had the same problem, I thought it was me. Weber support kept telling me I was doing it wrong. They changed out my controller for another issue and it connected immediately. There are alot of posts relating to wifi issues on early machines, it was a hit or miss it seems.

My wifi has worked perfect since new, but after the latest (9.6) app and software (1.3) update, it won't connect to wifi. Same wifi, grill in the same spot. I forced the controller into recovery mode, went through the updates again and still no wifi. I called Weber and gave up after being on hold for an hour.

So digging up ok thread. I'm in my second week with the SF and I love it. The only thing that doesn't work is the WiFi. This is a first production run SF, manufacturer date is November 2019. I need some advice.

I have a Google pixel 2 and a Samsung S10e. The app works on the pixel, but crashes on the Samsung, rendering that phone useless for this.

I only get the option to manually set up the WiFi, is that normal? See screenshot. Our should the app list available networks to sync with?

I can manually configure a valid SSID, and it connects, but then disconnects after a few seconds. Have tried multiple security configurations, access points, SSIDs. My network is ubiquiti hardware and has no issues running other legacy 2.4g devices.

What am I doing wrong?
I put it on my wife's s10 seems to work OK the problem I had with WiFi was typing in the name it had tell typed exactly wit cap or small and 2.4 the it started.
I've also tried pork chops and stake and a pork butt. All came out great using their recipe's. I didn't trust it at first but they worked.

Got ahold of Weber support this morning. Pleasant experience. Sending new controller, hopper slide, and on the wait list for a welded auger shoot.

I called support again this morning and this time choose to let them call me back without loosing my place in line. That was 3 hrs ago. I haven't heard back.

I never got a call back yesterday either. So I called this morning, 7:01am central. Went right to a person. If you don't get a call back today, try first thing in the morning. 7am central.

I know I've read that you have to use 2.4 Network and the phone needs to be on the same network. So I switched my phone to my 2.4 network while making all these attempts to connect to the grill with no success. Out of other options, I decided to connect my phone back to my 5.0 network and provide the network name and password of my 2.4 network in the app and tada - connected. I don't know if it was because it was my 113th attempt or if switching my phone off the same network, but thought I would update on my solution in case someone else was having the same issues. You can set up wifi on you 2.4 network even if you phone is not on the network.

Mine connected without me having to change my network. In fact I use Eero and there isn’t an option to have different SSID for 5ghz vs 2.4ghz. Though when I first connected to my grill I was out by my garage where it’s possibly was far enough away that grill only picked up the 2.4ghz signal but my phone connects to 5ghz there.

Yes No WIFI First tried to call support and was told to go through web support, oh boy which I have done and will see how long that takes
In the mean time I tried and tried again and no luck. I went as far as to remove and reload app, did factory reset on grill display and even a reset of grill controller. I can get grill to reload software, pair with phone, able to use grill tools from phone. But no WIFI and have tried using wps button on router during setup. Also after I shutt down app and shut down grill I have to repair blue tooth every time.

Anyone have issues and a fix?

The new grill tools are just what we needed from day one, now if I can get the wifi working

I'll trying updating the firmware after work today see what happens !! Hopefully I don't have to ask my son for help...........I hate it when he is smarter than me.

The update may be blocking the wifi. Quit the app and retry.
