As a general question, why do BBQ apps use Bluetooth? Seriously, if you get more than a few feet away the connection is blown so why not just use WiFi? I assume there is a obvious reason but it escapes me.
I'm guessing the intent on bluetooth is just for the initial setup. It gets the app connected to the grill easily, then you send the wifi info to the grill through the app. Then there is no need for a keyboard on the grill to input such info. I find it odd that they have used the app to send firmware and software updates though.
