With which grill/smoker did you replace your faulty Smokefire?

Picked up my Traeger Pro 780 this afternoon. Assembly was a breeze and the unit fit and finish is solid. The temperature here was hovering around freezing all day. The LCD display doesn't like cold temperatures and was a bit hard to read. I did discover if I looked down at the display instead of head-on I had no trouble reading it. I didn't get into connecting it to my wifi. The priming and initial burn-in was no problem. I seasoned up a package of split wings and put those on and they turned out well.

No complaints so far, but I've hardly put it through its paces yet.

I wish I would have checked out that forum back in November. Some folks on there raised some concerns with the design, that seem to be coming to fruition.
Do you own a Traeger? I was looking at the Ironwood, before I was awed by the SmokeFire promos.

Yes, I own a Ironwood 650 and been real happy with it. I purchased one of the first ones almost a year ago. Some software problems and some wild temp swings in the beginning, but with every software update the grill has gotten better and more reliable. I love it, it just doesn't grill and that's the reason for buying a SmokeFire (soon). Not to mention I've been a long term Weber grill owner (from camping grills to patio grills) for a long time!

I'm with you. Weber will get it right, no doubt. Fine company with a good reputation that has taken a hit. You can bet it'll be rectified. I just couldn't wait any longer. They still have my gasser business.
I totally agree. We can use my EX6 as the Guinea Pig! I love my Summit SS470 Gasser Too, and my 2 previous Genesis and my kettles and my WSM and camp cookers and....lol you get the idea.

Interesting experience for someone that tried to return a grill to Lowes. Mine was still in the box so I had no issues with taking it back to Lowes.

After wearing out my Traeger over 5years I was in the market for a new grill. I loved cooking on the pellet grill, but wanted an all-in-one solution. I needed something that would sear better than what I could get out of my Traeger. I have a buddy who has a Yoder 640 and he has absolutely loved it for the past 2-3 years. I was in the process of wrapping my head around a Yoder purchase when I learned about the Smokefire. I immediately got my name on the list and had high hopes for it. My previous experiences with Weber had been nothing but positive, in fact my second grill for 12 years was a Weber summit that never gave me any problems. Needless to say after 4 cooks running 2 bags of Weber pellets through my EX6, and experiencing most of the documented issues with it, I am now the proud owner of a new Yoder YS640S. I must say Weber handled the situation very well they sent a truck to pick it up no questions asked. I strongly believe that their grill has potential, but it seems like they brought a product to market that was not ready to be released yet.

I had the same experience. I absolutely love the YS640S.

It’s great seeing a grill company thinking out of the box from every pellet grill(not)/smoker manufacture out there in the same price range. It was a risk to have an open belly flame (no drip pan) for grilling and the control for low and slow smoking. The Smokefire produced super smoke flavor and smoke ring, as good as, possibly better than my Kettle doing a low and slow.
I have no doubt Weber will resolve all of the first edition issues and will dominate the market for a true pellet grill/smoker at less than $1200. No drip pans, sliding slotted panels, Grill Grates or side mounted gas burners to sear and grill food. I will wait it out for Smokefire 2.0, using my Kettle until then.

I just ordered REC TEC 700 and am returning my Smokefire to Lowe's or selling it outright if they won't take it. I have a buddy that has the REC TEC and loves it and he is a previous Traeger owner. FWIW, it was the $1199 price but has great reviews everywhere I look.

The Bull is what I got and could not be happier! Everything as advertised and more. You'll be very happy with it.

I just ordered the Camp Chef Woodwind Wifi Smoker. All the sites I read gave Camp Chef great reviews and the reviews on the wifi smoker have been good as well.
I just called and returned my EX4. Sick of waiting for answers.
Please keep us posted on your experience with the Camp Chef Woodwind. The only complaints I've seen relate to Android WiFi (sound familiar?), It looks like Camp Chef may have done more pellet smoker research than Weber.
