Weber Complimentary Ramp Accessory

Excerpt from email from Weber regarding my EX6 hopper issue: ".... offer you a complimentary ramp accessory for your SmokeFire to improve the angle of the feed and make sure you have the best grilling experience. That will come with the necessary hardware, tools, and directions for installation." I'll post photos when I get it.

This is on the forum somewhere else, but I'll post here too. Emailed customer support this afternoon and my new ramp for my EX4 is on its way. Very quick response . Also, there is an install video in the FAQ section of their website. Two screws, -2lb capacity. I can live with that. The ramp looks steep.

Never heard this until now.
I just sent a request for this to Weber. I guess I have been such a pain in the rear they have 3 different people monitoring my emails. Lol
I replaced my auger tube this weekend. Cleaned up the ash and residue dust. I then replaced the current pellets I was using with Lumber Jack competition blend. Made a huge difference in ash and residue. The flavor and smell was much better. Amazing difference. I can’t see the difference in the auger tubes myself. So I am attaching photos for those here to take a look and see what I am missing. 💨🔥

Yep they emailed me saying they were shipping me one for my EX4 also. It shows overnight shipping but not shipped yet on the order number they gave me.

I wonder how long it takes for this to be a standard part of the build. I am hoping to purchase in April / May timeframe. Hoping most of the issues are resolved by then.

It will be interesting to see if they change the hopper, pre-install this, or have customers have to request it.

Received the insert today and was able to install it in under 5 minutes. I would have liked it to fit a bit tighter... there’s a sizable gap on one side. It also is going to make loading pellets a bit more cumbersome as the side of the hopper with the easiest access is now too shallow. I still don’t understand how this issue didn‘t come up in product testing.

I got mine today but my new grill hasnt shipped yet. I will go drop it in my old one real quick and see if there is that much of a gap. That seems to be big enough for pellet pieces and dust to fall down it look like?

The OEM insert uses some sort of calk - not applied very well on mine, as there's still small gaps. Does anyone know what material is used for the Weber calk?

Just checked on my old grill. Yes I have a gap too. It is not horrible and mostly and the very top left but I am calling Weber! JUST KIDDING. It does have a good gap though. A bigger concern of mine is that the bends were not rolled and have no structural intergrity. Instead they were snipped. Everyone needs to be careful you do not smash yours before and after installation. I highly doubt throwing pellets on there would bend it but I bet if you layed your bag of pellets on it too much while you were loading the pellets you could bend it. It would be easy to fix though. They did good to get this designed and out so fast. Its definitely not final production quality but its functional.

My main concern: Has anyone actually checked on the alleged 2lb capacity loss? My eyes are probably tricking me but the pellet chamber now looks pretty small.20200304_180711.jpg20200304_180606.jpg
