Okay, it's official: I'm OUT! (But still happy to be here!)

In my industry(HVAC) I see this quite often when 304SS is used, and then welder's, grind and weld, and the sparks hit the 304.
Would you consider that a negative on how the RT700 Rec Tec is made of it? I just don't know...

It looks like Weber suggests using a water pan on the flavorizer bars for long cooks. Maybe that is the fix for all of the concerns? If they were to give us a couple water pans to put on both sides of the smoker. This will help even the temperature and catch the grease preventing fire risks. I’d push them to the back to force the smoke through the front to escape on the back of the grill.

My EX6 gets delivered on Wednesday (FINALLY)... can someone give me the dimensions of the area between the flavorizor bars and the grill grates? I’ll likely try to find an aluminum pan like these: Mophorn Set of 6 Hotel Pan 2 Inch Steam Table Pan Full Size 20x12x2 Inch 9 Quart Stainless Steel Anti Jam Steam Table Pan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PCJ1MF7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_s22sEbK1HF3SE

That’s interesting.

Brian - ran across this while researching and thought it might be very close to what you are looking for.

Masterbuilt apparently released a gravity fed smoker late last year I had not heard of - Model 560, with a retail price under $500. I have never seen a new gravity fed smoker for less than about $2500. This would allow you to use charcoal and wood, but still set it and forget it. It can also get hot enough to sear, etc.

I'm considering one - although it is a little bit small for what I want. Supposedly they are releasing a larger model 1060 in the near future.

I'm also skeptical of the Masterbuilt name (although I have admittedly never owned one so it might be unfounded bias). But at the price point I am beginning to think it might be worth a shot. It also has good reviews over at smoking meat forums, which is encouraging.

Wow, thanks for the info! I'll admit I've always associated Masterbuilt with electric smokers so I didn't pay much attention to them. That looks really nice! I'm going to do some more research on that!

I like the RT700 so far... but one reviewer pointed out that the I think it is called 304 Stainless is not what it is supposed to be. He referred to a magnet being able to still stick to what they are built with, and that they do pit and can rust. I am not sure about what to think about that. It was just an online reviewer so I have no idea of the worth of his point. Any thoughts on that subject? Thanks.

I believe that is in reference to the bull horns that are stainless steel, I've always had a cover on mine in the mid west climates with no rust.

Thanks so much for sharing! I will check it out. It is kinda fun to just learn about all these gadgets anyways!

My wife and I talked about this and we decided that I don't need the waste of time or frustration of dealing with a grill that is having the myriad issues that this SmokeFire is having. So I wrote to Weber and told them to either have the carrier return delivery or I just will not accept delivery. I have already spent way TOO much time on this not ready for Primetime grill. Baby Back Maniac's latest video cemented that for me. I know Weber will take care of their customers, but I am not going to be one in this case.

Okay folks, after much research I realized I already had the best setup available. It works really well and is quite mobile. 20 year old grill w/ upgraded grate. All is well. Charcoal NOT included.

Can't argue with that. I have almost the same grill that we got as a wedding gift 18 years ago. I use it all the time and it still looks great, works great, and it sits outside uncovered most of the time. No firmware updates needed! ;)

This Weber 18 was a gift to me from my best man on my wedding day almost 21 years ago! I am blessed!
