New software version

Just cleaned my grill really well shop vac the inside. Wiped down the outside then inside...all the areas where smoke comes out...wiped the grates. Not too crazy, but better. Then updated the firmware...doing a 600 burn then going to shut her down. Planning on wings later this afternoon/evening.

Can’t read my SmokeFire screen. Sigh, completed shutdown, my phone says it’s complete, but, it’s still showing 290 degrees...

I updated the software last night, no problem. I went through the shut process, powered back on and went to make sure the update worked and all the info in the "About" screen said N/A.

Went through the shut down cycle again, repowered and everything was back.

It is my understanding the sf will only update via Bluetooth. I turn off my Bluetooth before all overnight cooks.
The firmware update does require Bluetooth.

I can ONLY connect via bluetooth however I am unable to connect via Wi-Fi despite repeated attempts via an android 7.0 device, somewhat frustrating...................updated to 04042 smooth as ______.

The update states it enables multiple WiFi options. Maybe it will help. I had a similar frustration with a thermoworks smoke unit with the bridge. Never could get it to pair. Is your WiFi the 5.0 or 2.4?

I have had my SF on both bands with my Android, but have decided to use 2.4 as it is more stable over longer distances when outside. I also routinely switch between my iOS tablet and Android phone, depending upon what I am using that day.

Anybody having problems switching off Smokeboost and setting a new temperature from the App, happened on the last 2 consecutive cooks since the app/firmware update for me. I have to do it manually from the control panel?

Not yet, I hope that’s not a trend. Good luck.

My issue with the new app/junOS/firmware is that when I have plugged in the probes I have lost the temp set point. Not major but shouldn't happen. It is going to be a few days before I can check it again. Many of the issues that I saw with firmware 4042 by itself have been diminished.

Something must be going on either with my control panel or app/firmware, as after initiating shutdown tonight (although it had cooled down and done what it was supposed to do) the panel had frozen on the shutdown message and never displayed the it's now safe to turn off your Smokefire after 45 minutes. Had to just switch it off at the power switch.

Another thing I noticed during the cook (only because I was in front of it at the time) the temp was at 375F and cooking away, but the screen suddenly went blank for a second or 2 and went to the screen that you get when you first switch it on. I had to reset the temp to 375F on the dial it hadn't lost any temp, but if I hadn't been there, can't say if it wouldn't have done, before I had noticed iyswim

Linksys Velop Tri Band (2.4GHz, 5GHz, 5GHz) over 3 nodes, seems to work for everything else. I never thought to look at WiFi settings though.........

Not with SmokeBoost but had similar issue where the set temp went blank and couldn’t adjust from app. It was holding temp fine though.

I believe that the latest version 4042 is designed to improve the WiFi connectivity by giving one options for connectivity. The only time I have experienced the inability to change input from my cell phone was due to a week signal strength when running on the 5 GHz channel for both the SF and my phone. I switched both to 2.4 and all worked well again, as the 2.4 has a greater range, albeit less speed.
