Junk!

I agree with with captainmike and dudemcnally. I doubt they were intentionally misleading you and more than likely misunderstood your question or don’t know the full details of the insulation of the grill. I manage a team that does client support too and there are many times where I have newer people answer a question incorrectly because they didn’t understand or thought they knew the answer. Obviously I don’t know the specifics of what happened here but I’ve seen it many times where the person answering a question didn’t fully comprehend the way it was asked, the terminology used, or the what the persons was really looking for.

Wait till this guy sees a 20 degree temp variance from left to right or a simple flameout.
Not sure whether you an EX4 or EX6, but I get only about a 10 degree variance from left to right a on the lower grate, but less than 5 degrees on the upper grate.

Also, have yet to experience a flameout after 40+ smokes/grills; better than the performance of my Summit 670 which gets periodic flameouts due to wind gusts unless the block some of the vents.

After a tremendous amount of enduring lies from Weber, their inability to return any my phone calls or respond to an email, I finally got my EX6 installed.
Just one initial question: INSIDE this thing, the sides are only insulated. Is this normal? If so, I’m demanding a complete refund on the grill and on the $400.00++ I spent for accessories. Prior to ordering I was told this grill was fully insulated on the inside! 🤬
No sure what your issues are but I love mine.

Traegers are now made in China. I have a good friend who sells them for Home Depot. He tells people that pellet grills are the best choice but he doesn't specifically refer to Traeger. His conscience will not allow him to do that.

Sorry to hear of your experience, but it certainly sounds atypical .

Mine was, and continues to be, the total opposite. Purchased locally in a box, all upgrades included, extremely good customer support when ordering extra glow plugs and glow plug holder as backup. In addition after almost daily use and approaching 50 uses, it continues to work as expected.

Quality of the smoker is first rate, and from experience with 7 previous Weber grills over the past 30 years or so — 5 still in use including the SF — I expect to see a long, successful service from my SF.

I live in Western New York where we get below zero in the winter and I am not concerned at all about the insulation issue.
And mine came in a box. 🙃
I believe my complaint about the EX6 should be directed at Weber’s inability to return my phone calls and emails. Additionally, their inability to properly ship my accessories in a timely manner; only shipping partial orders, boxes split opened, shipping with a completely unknown shipper and THEIR inability to tell me anything productive.
I have the grill. I’ll attempt to fire it up and hopefully things will smooth over.
you presented an excellent opinion. Thank you.

Give it a chance...it really is an extremely versatile product that is very well built; albeit not without an occasional growing pain for some.

Are you sure you’re working with Weber directly and not a dealer?

I manage a location for a company with a large sales division and customer service, and the best thing you can do if you feel mistreated is to call in and ask to speak with a supervisor about it. Explain what you were told. A company with good customer service such as Weber will initiate internal retraining, and most likely look to make it up to you some way (can’t say for sure since I don’t work for Weber but I believe it is likely). Any complaint that is escalated up to me results in a personal phone call or e-mail to the customer and an internal corrective action of training, disciplinary, or rarely, no action.
The only local Weber dealer, deals with their gas BBQ’s, not the wood pellets. This dealer informed me that they refuse to order the pellet gills AND they do not carry any of Weber’s pellets!!!
I placed my order over the phone, directly with a Weber customer service rep.
I would gladly take my complaint up their chain of command IF, if anyone would answer my calls or read my email.
Weber and some on this forum are stating the COVID virus is the reason the service is so bad. Personally, that excuse has been used way to long.
Thank you got your input.

As I stated. Hope to get it up and working IF, WHEN I can find where to get all the latest updates.

What updates are you looking for?

If you are talking software/firmware check here

If you are talking about putting the grill together, the instructions are pretty good and not too hard to follow. Follow their instructions on how to removed from box and set it since that will help protect grill and make for an easier build. I would suggest having a second person help with standing it up when you get to that point so you don’t put to much pressure on the legs.
The BILT app also has guided instructions available

MANY TKS!
I managed to get it put together with the help of three great friends.
I’m not overly impressed with the way the legs attach. It took three guys to safely lift it up without damaging the legs. Just moving this grill makes me nervous. Again, the legs are not attached in a safe manner.
I need to ensure that everything is updated. TKS for everything. I’ll check all of it out.

I like the Traeger Ironwood myself but feature-wise and quality wise I think that goes to Weber. Plus the Ironwood model that compares with your EX6 is more more expensive.
