App update checking

Just updated to 4008 we'll see how it goes. Started right up set for 225 just to see what happens. Much faster for low temps. Just set it for 600 from 225 5 min to 425 , 7 min to 525, 10 min to 600. Pretty fast

EX4 OR EX6?
I updated and it seemed to take forever to get to 450. I was trying to get lunch done do I didn’t have time to record how long everything took. Will be grilling some pork chops for dinner tonight and will try to see exactly how long it takes.

Hey folks, trying to update from 4003 to 4008 and tried everything the book. Still failing. Anyone had this issue below?

I followed Weber instructions to the dot (did it at least 20 times, and wasted so much time); then tried various things on top of instructions.. Did the recovery mode and ran the update multiple times etc. Just can't get the 4008 firmware installed. The app tells me "software upgrade failed" and tells me to try again every single time. The OS version is the latest, the app is the latest but the firmware is stuck at 4003. Called Weber support, they told me to do everything I already tried, but it still didn't work. They told me to remove the control panel, wait and reinstall, that didn't help either. Reinstalled the app multiple times.. Finally they said try it at a later time. Am I missing something or should I give them another call?

Make sure you turn WiFi off on your phone.

Email them. Took a coupe days to respond to me but they sent a new controller already updated. Mine was stuck at 3700 and wouldn't update at all.

I am firing up the smokefire now. I have been unable to get above 500 for the past two weeks. We will see if it helps.

Well I can tell you from experience that the flame out continues. I had 5 before it would even run yesterday. Wouldn’t hold temperature. Had the E6 error twice. Which is also a flame issue. Finally when it started working I was able to smoke for most of the day. Then at the end when I needed ten more degrees to finish my turkey breast, bam yet another flame out. I just shoved it in the oven and finished it. I just wish they would test this programming intensely before they start changing it.

That sounds like a miserable time!!

I am Michael from Germany and we also received the latest version of the app.


I also updated to the new app version and faced out some strange things:

- When you start the app, the little antenna icon on the right bottom cornor becomes green, even if the grill is switched off
- > This was different before, it just became green if the grill was reachable via bluetooth.

- In the version 0.9.5 - I was able to see the temperature of the grill, even when not heating it up or at a cook

(picture shows grill during heat up, but it just stated for example 70 °C without the 110°C behind the 70 - when a cook was not started yet ):

Now - with new version 0.9.6 it just shows "SmokeFire":

Is this also the same for you ?

I will start a cook this evening and see if the grill temperature is still available, maybe only after starting a cook.

I have updated it and not the issues you are seeing. Maybe you need to delete your grill from the app and connect it again?

I have deleted it already.

For me now - with the new software - it’s only showing up the temperature when the Grill job is started.

So Weber just changed this.

Changed for me too. Only shows grill temp if started. Maybe saves data and battery by not constantly sending temp when not cooking.

Interesting. My app only ever showed temperature if I had started a cook. If the control is on but not cooking, or once shutdown was completed, my app only has ever just shown “ online.” Been this way since February 14. I use an iPhone
