What does everyone think of their Smoke Fire now

I started off using Weber pellets, then found out Lumberjack makes Weber and Cabela's, so I started going to Cabela's, right near my office and curbside delivery. I actually called two weeks ago to have it picked up and before the freight company called to pick it up, I changed my mind, cuz I really wanted to make it work... But this time it's final. I'll wait till the next revision/redesign.
How do you know who makes Weber pellets?

Mine has been nothing but a nuisance. All the updates have been done. I finally worked a deal to get a summit charcoal to replace it. Personally I wish I'd never bought it.
I can’t say with certainty I would choose my EX6 over an S6.

They taste the same

People in other boards have been saying it. I had both in my hands and you couldn't determine which was which.

I have both and I’d probably not want to choose. I would probably go with the Smokefire just out of convenience. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I had all the usual issues in the beginning last year and Weber CS was great. The free ignitors and the 4 glasses were a nice touch of class along with the letter. Mine has been flawless all year. I shop vac it after 6+ hours of cooktime, use Weber pellets, keep it covered, and it has a roof over it. I vac the hopper once in a great while per a Weber CS guy who has been using the SF since December 2018.

Yeah, I gravitated towards this design from the jump. It was frustrating the first 3-6 months but fortunately I had other options in case something went wrong which it did a couple times in the early days. Thing has been bullet proof for a long while now and the simple design features really shine through. I feel it’s as close to transformative as there has been since the pellet revolution.

I am puzzled as to how someone could have used their grill back in 2018 - 2019 and not flushed out the early regrettable issues that seemed pretty obvious and not earth shattering to resolve. 🤷🏼‍♂️

As usual you are spot on!

I canceled my order back last winter because of all the problems they were having. Now over a year later I was wondering are all the bugs worked out? For the one’s that have owned theirs a while, are they worth it or should I look elsewhere for a smoker. I still notice some people are having problems.

We love our SmokeFire! Picked up an EX6 on Father’s Day and we have used it at a minimum of 2 times a week, usually more. The only gripe that I have is cleaning it because it gets pretty dirty with so much usage lol

Don't worry too much. I've gone 2-3 months without doing anything except wire brushing the grates. I use a drip pan when doing large cuts like brisket, pork and such.

My EX4 is maybe 3-4 weeks old. I've done a # of great cooks on it. However, I am disappointed in the unevenness of the heat when using it to grill - as advertised. In the back left corner it will barely leave grill marks when running at the max 600 degrees. You can really only, "grill," on a small area on the right side. I may as well bought a pellet grill with a sear zone if this is the extent of the grillable area of the Smokefire.

That all aside, tonight it died on me. It simply went into shutdown mode during warm up, then the screen flickered sporadically like a new-age light show, then the screen came back and I could set a temp, but when I did set a temp nothing happened at all. I then turned it off for 30 seconds then on, and it came back on appearing normal. I set my temp again, it reached temp, I put my food on, and then 5 minutes into the cook it went into shutdown mode again and then I got an E4 error code.

Not overly impressed at this point.....

Had my EX6 just over a year. Makes great food. As a single device for smoking and grilling I don’t expect it to be the best at either. But it works well for both. But not without issues. 3 controllers and one motherboard later, still having disconnect issues. Just can’t trust it completely enough to not check on it every hour or so. At this point I’d be afraid to do an overnight cook.

Yikes! This is exactly why I may just return it....

I've had my ex4 since may 2021 have gone thru 12 bags of weber pellets. Did have to replace mother board but weber customer service was fantastic. As with anything computer related shit happens. Weber service is second to none
I would not go any where else.

Reading through these replies, I wonder if some are lemons, or if there's an environmental factor, like the grill is tilted just enough the wrong way to keep pellets from falling properly, or the wind blows through making the thermostat probe reading inaccurate.

It isn't perfect, but I'm enjoying the food I make on it. I use it more like a smoke generating oven. The only thing I grill on mine is steaks, and that's mostly because I like the reverse sear method. Burgers are better on my kettle.
