Searwood Not Reaching Temp

First place it near the Weber probe. Second, I’d use multiple thermometers to verify it’s the grill and not your thermo. Lastly, if that bears out, I’m sure Weber will figure it out. Sorry to hear about your trouble. Hope it’s something small or easy.
If I may offer a suggestion......get rid of that useless analog thermometer you are using and invest in a more reliable digital one. Check out thermoworks.com, they usually run sales on the Dot (reasonable and accurate). That should be your starting point. Not saying the Searwood can't be off but your thermometer is not helping you much. Hope you get it figured out. Smoke on!

The variable temperature is what gives the bbq a smoke profile. The industry for the most part has abandon constant temperature with mean temperatures. If it’s 20 degrees and not 200 I’d say there is no issue. Adjust and continue. There are dozens of variables at play in bbq. Cheers
You hit the nail on the head! You can't cook by time or expect the grill/smoker to run at your set temp. No different than your home oven. Temps vary (to some degree). I had the same issues with my Grilla OG. The company sent me replacements for the temp probe and control board after much time spent on the phone troubleshooting the issue to no avail. Different pellets made no difference. I learned the grill and lived with it, end of story. Actually not the end.....I got rid of the grill! LOL I am in the process of deciding what to replace it with. I have 3 on my mind with Searwood as one of them.

I can deal with the temps being off when I am smoking since I run at 225-235 anyway. But when I want 600 degrees, my does not get close causing a failed feature. Stinks!!!!

I agree with you. You're not getting the feature they advertise, and you want it and paid for it!

A poll should be posted (I can't create a poll, I think I'm too new to the forum)

Do you think Weber will release a firmware update to address the temperature discrepancies?

Yes

No

My Searwood performs as advertised

Ok the latest, my dealer is taking back the unit and replacing it with a brand new one.
I am really OK with that and if it cannot sear like I want it to, so be it, I tried.
There are just lots of people showing accurate or close to accurate temps so I am not sure if I/we are in the minority with extremely poor accuracy. I hope we are and I get one that can sear or at least give me some yellow flame from dripping fat. :)

The new grill will be here Saturday and I hope to put it together myself because last time, the dealer installers did a C- job. I don't want that again.

Wish me luck!

It is being delivered today and I will be putting it together and burning it in.

I did get 80lbs of free pellets from Weber so I will use them up before going back to Bear Mountain

Great news. I put the grill together last Sunday and it works great. Tem is off -5 degrees at 250 and +10 at 600.
My 1st cook was a reverse sear NY Sirloin. I smoked it for 15 minutes on 180 and went to 250 for another 15 minutes.
Took them off put them on a covered plate in my toaster oven to keep warm. Cranked the grill up to 600 and seared both steaks to perfection (for a pellet grill). The flame from each side of the diffuser was like a wide blow torch and I was getting flame charring too. This is what my 1st Searwood should have done. I am so happy with it I purchased the front shelf. The shelf is worth it as it is a really nice deep shelf not like the thin one on my reqtec. A little screwy to install (pun intended) but it works really well and is sturdy.

I am so happy !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and this one upgraded immediately to a newer firmware then what was on the one I returned. That may have something to do with it working better.
