Pellet comparison

This got me searching the Lowe's website because luckily I have about four different stores near me that require roughly the same amount of travel time. One store had the Grill Master blend for $7.64/bag and another store had the Hickory for $10.53/bag. I bought right then and there and chose store pick-up. If you have a Lowe's nearby, you might want to try the same thing.
What? That’s crazy, I would be stocking up big time!!

Unfortunately the two Lowe’s near me are still selling the Weber pellets for $16.99 per bag...however I will keep checking.

However, there is a garden center near me that is a large Weber dealer that has been selling the Weber pellets for $14/ bag all year and they said they have no plans to either increase the price or to discontinue them.

I just bought the last bags of Grillmaster blend from Lowes for $6.99 / bag. They also had an EX4 cover for $14.99 which I purchased. I had a cover but they usually last 2-3 years so I figured for that price I could not go wrong. There is not 1 SF at Lowes on display. They now have PitBoss smokers on display. Hopefully come spring they restock the Weber pellets seeing the store is on my way home.

Damn! In NJ? I'm in South NJ, that's a steal, might need to venture in. Was just considering stocking up on PitBoss b/c of the low price but I've seen nothing but terrible reviews.

Not sure this is the right category. But the weber pellets def kick up less ash, seem harder to light. But def burn cleaner than traeger pellets. Traeger pellets light really fast compared to the weber pellets. But much more blowing around.
I personally will stick to the weber pellets going forward.
Me too. I’m still using Weber pellets that are over one year. Never a problem with them.

One brand I've not heard mentioned here is Kingsford. I bought several bags of Weber at my local Lowes while they were essentially giving them away and I like them but now I can't find another source anywhere near me (I'm in a NE Houston Suburb) and I really don't want to go the web-order route if at all possible. Walmart here carries Kingsford at roughly $13 a bag. Thoughts? Related to this - has anyone tried the Royal Oak 100% Charcoal pellets?

^^^ my local grocery store has the Kingford ones in stock. Any feedback on these? (As noted above, they have not been discussed in this thread)

Lowe's had Kingsford on sale several months ago and I stocked up. They worked great with no groaning and no loss of temps

@rexster314 … thanks! I just picked up two bags of SF Hickory at Lowe’s for $9.49 each, but I will try the Kingsford since they’re always in stock at my Publix and affordable.

You'll like them. If they go on sale again, I'll restock. Presently I'm buying B&B Competition pellets from Academy. 15$ for 40 lbs

Cooked beef ribs with Kingsford cherry pellets tonight… all went well and the beef was awesome.
