Pellet comparison

I had one bag of the weber and it was good . But for 16.99 a bag it wasn’t that good . I’ve switched to lumberjack and it’s worked great . Char hickory mixed with some of the cherry is my favorite . And it’s 9.99 a bag by me

If it was $9.99 here I’d give it a go!

Not sure this is the right category. But the weber pellets def kick up less ash, seem harder to light. But def burn cleaner than traeger pellets. Traeger pellets light really fast compared to the weber pellets. But much more blowing around.
I personally will stick to the weber pellets going forward.
I’ve thought about buying cheaper pellets myself but Weber is Weber. Their reputation alone steers me towards using their brand. My first few cooks were with Traeger and off brand pellets which resulted in ash blow back and a sub par flavor. Since I have stuck with Weber pellets, I have had no issues and my cooks have been fantastic. Only my opinion but to each their own.

1.5 bags of Bear Mountain pellets through the EX4 and I ended up with “pellet turd” in the fire pot. Weather in Texas has been in the 80’s and 90s with low humidity and the grill is under a cover. Never had any issues during the 4 previous cooks, but noticed this in the fire pot after cleaning it out following a 3.5 hour whole chicken smoke.

Sure looks like non-combustible filler.

Looks like I’ll be avoiding Bear Mountain. Thanks for the testing Riddle.

Bear Mountain is the only other brand I've used outside of Weber pellets. Bear Mountain pellets are larger and you could hear the auger squeaking to push them through.

I've used Pit Boss, Traeger and Lumberjack pellets. My favorite out of them all has been Lumberjack. Added bonus is their bags are $8.88 at our local farm stores.

I normally use Lumberjack. We have a farm store fairly close that sells them for 11 something a bag. I was in Lowes today and saw they had the Weber Hickory pellets on sale for 10.69 a bag. They are normally over 16 so I picked up a few bags to try. I'm really happy with the Lumberjack but have heard good things about Weber also.

I’ve been very happy with the Weber product.

I just got a 40 lb. bag of B&B at Academy for $16. Mix of oak, pecan, and cherry. No fillers/oils.

This got me searching the Lowe's website because luckily I have about four different stores near me that require roughly the same amount of travel time. One store had the Grill Master blend for $7.64/bag and another store had the Hickory for $10.53/bag. I bought right then and there and chose store pick-up. If you have a Lowe's nearby, you might want to try the same thing.
