Any reason for such a short period of time for the chance to put your entry in? not even a full weekend this month to do one for October. Only reason I mention it is it has been terrible weather here since the beginning of the month and the first dry day we have had is this coming Sunday. Maybe a couple of full weekends if time allowed, would allow for more entries to be done now autumn/winter is here. I realise some members live in sunnier climes than some others and can cook most days of the year, that can't be said for everyone though.

That's a good point and something I didn't think about because I launched the contest a few days late. I'll add another week and next month be sure to allow for 2 full weekends. Great idea and thanks for the suggestion!

Great call, was thinking I didn’t even get a chance to shop yet this month.
Good on Prime1 to make the move!!

Did an Apple Tartin today,(first real dessert I have cooked on a smoker before) So thought I would enter it for this months contest.

p.s. Don't even like apples so didn't even try it, my wife and neighbour assured me it was excellent though.

That looks really good!

Holy Cow! This is going to be hard this time. Looks like everyone upped their game. Dutchie’s example has helped us go to another level....we’re after you Dutchie....😄

Thanks. Recipe here if you wanted to give it ago, really easy to do, as I say I don't like apples, but was assured it was very tasty and as good as any version out the oven with a hint of smokiness as well. I used vanilla ice cream instead of the fresh cream to serve it with.

I'd got a couple of other dishes on the go as well at the time, so didn't take as many photos as I wanted to, but the puff pastry firms up nicely for a good base and is flaky and cooked after 45-50 minutes and it flips out the right way up when you tip it out, really easy. I was worried I would ruin my cast iron skillet, but shouldn't have worried, cleaned up really easy afterwards, with a little scraping. If you like apples and want to do some afters when you've finished your main meal, well worth ago.

p.s. that isn't burnt the dark colours, it is the caramelisation of the butter and sugar
