New app and software update!,,

I was able to order by calling. I ordered back on May 19. My card was not charged until May 29th and they shipped out June 2nd. Should be here today. Was $69.50 for two of them. Pricier than I expected but I didn’t want to risk not having one if mine went out and had to wait weeks to get replacement.

Wow, that's almost 10x what I expected them to cost. Glad I asked for 2 when my first one failed.

Hi All,

I emailed Weber Tuesday regarding the ignition issue and received the attached response this morning. It addresses being sure the glow plug is grounded and seated correctly and includes photo's. I haven't checked my grill yet but don't believe this is the issue. While they did not address if the'yre hearing about this problem post FW update, I do think the 2nd day response is reasonable given the current situation.

I thought I read somewhere in all the promo stuff that they were using a common diesel glow plug so people wouldn't have this issue if it burnt out. You could just run down to Autozone and get a new one.

Attached response? I don't see anything.

Sorry! I've attached the pictures. I had copied everything into a word doc, but this site doesn't accept word docs as attachments.

Thanks. I did pull mine out last weekend, but might do that again now that I have photos as a reference. I think mine is fine (definitely not like photo #3, but possibly like #2). Things could get dislodged when cleaning the grates. I hate how much the grill shakes when you clean the grates.

You can eliminate the ground issue by using a #4 stainless steel hose clamp around ground tab and plug body. It will securely hold the ground to the plug under any vibration. I friend of mine on a FB group suggested to do this. It's a great idea.

Yeah I was surprised how much they cost. I’ve looked around and found glow plugs that ranged from $8 to $30. I got mine yesterday and the Weber part number is 68957. The glow plug has markings TY 24V 1941. I searched online for a while but had no luck finding them based on those markings. I’m assuming the 24V is 24 volts and when I found 24 volt glow plugs they were generally more expensive so hopefully Weber is selling them for a reasonable markup.

I put some total locking casters on mine, and it made a huge difference in the stability of the grill. Having all four lock and not rotate makes it rock solid for me.

See this thread for information including the ones I got that Bruno recommended.

I was doing the same last night with no luck, but mine says TY 24V 1938. So they must be using some that are different. Maybe any replacements are now 1941? I should receive my replacements today, so I will check.

If you can borrow an iPhone from a friend, install the app and try it with the iPhone. For me this does the trick up until now I was never able to use an android phone to do an update successfully.
Just wanted to follow up on this; I talked to them again and again, tried different phones etc. Nothing worked. They ended up sending me a new control panel and it updated immediately. So seems like something was wrong with my unit.

If anyone has trouble updating after following instructions, wouldn't hurt to call Weber for a new unit :)

In the middle of last Saturday's cook I got a reboot of the controller and new pairing request but the grilling continued uninterrupted. The bavette (flank steak) had not been harmed in the process :)
Noticed the Smokefire firmware had updated to 4035. (Came from 4025)

I got a pairing request in middle of cook too. Had to go out and pair it but went fine and I noticed that next time I booted it up was on firmware 4035 as well.
