New app and software update!,,

I had similar issues but no indication of downloading. After the thrid trial I turned off the unit at the plug and waited about a minute. Turned it on and the 4 lights started to dance and the new software was loaded. Cooked a brisket worked fine but noticed towards the 10 hour mark the connection started to fail with the app. My next two cooks unit is back to low temps vs setpoint. Tried deleting and reinstalling the app but same issues. I have the original auger which could be a draw back but when I cooked the brisket the fan was adjusting to keep setpoint. The last two cooks the fan was back to the old one speed. I might call Weber but I have gotten poor support.

I deleted and reinstalled the app, put the grill in recovery mode and the update installed. Everything is up to date now, but wifi no longer works. Worked fine before, but now it just says "Failed to sup up Wi-Fi." I am connecting to 2.4 network and the grill is about 5' from an access point.
 
On the new software when the grill is connected it shows both Bluetooth & Wifi at the sametime now. Previously it was either or.
 
So I went to grill yesterday, smoke fire would not connect to phone, then locked up and wouldn’t start shut down. Had to hit switch. Gave me improper shut down message. After straightened that out, then had to update. What a pain update worked well, and had some nice features. Smoke, change temps from phone, and shut down from phone. And I have iOS.
 
I was able to update the app on Friday, the software updated to 1.3 but my firmware is still 4003. What should I do?

I am also stuck at 4003, never been able to update since 4008 came out. Did you get any luck updating the firmware?

I had the same issue when I updated from 4003 to 4008.

What did the trick for me:
  1. Call Weber support, and as for there advice (always the first step)
But I did the following,
  1. Use iPhone instead of Android phone.
  2. Remove SF from app.
  3. Remove App
  4. Reinstall App (Do not connect the SF to the app)
  5. Do a factory reset of the SF
  6. Connect app to SF, by following instructions and be patience
No warranty or guaranty so best to call Weber.

This new firmware update seems to be doing the trick for me. In the past month, my grill had been struggling to maintain temperatures - even lower temps. It couldn't maintain 225 for more than 10 minutes before it would drop down to 90 and then I would get the E3 Error - grill flame had gone out.

I switched to Weber Pellets, did the firmware update and now the grill is maintaining temperatures like it should. Maintained 400 for 1+ hour yesterday and 275 for 2+ hours the day before! Not sure exactly what they changed, but it seems to be working.
 
New software from last week has made all the difference on how the grill is working. I do notice a 25F difference between the controller and my Smoke grill probe, the grill being higher. Setpoint 250F the grill runs at 225F. Setpoint 300F grill runs at 275F. Honestly this is great, I can live with this. Did a pork roast over the weekend held 225F for 3.5 hrs not 1 hiccup. Tried 600F the other day, Ramped up to 600 in 17min open and closed the lid several times and went right back up and held steady. I am almost afraid to update the controller to 4025.
Honestly if 4025 makes it even better, the SF will become the much hyped grill I thought I was buying in January.
 
Android 9.7 update is available now. Firmware is 4025 and software is 1683. Attempting to update now.
 
Experience with 4025 not great for me so far. No issues with grill in the 3 weeks I have had it. Now won't start. Going through shutdown now and will try again
 
Update was as easy as it gets, now to test it out tomorrow.

Look for a "plug" at the base of the auger that will affect pellet feed.
 
Android update was easy. Attempts at FW and SW have failed twice. Trying again.....
