Just plain dead - getting tired of surprises and making excuses for late dinners

Happy it was a quick fix, now please go to Jayjay1976's post above and buy spares..... I did although didn't blow one yet 🤞i think by the time you own the grill for 6 months, we are all certified SF technicians
Haha 6 minutes! I think being handy with tools goes a long way with the SmokeFire

When mine blew I had no idea what the problem was. When I contact CS they attempted to send me a new circuit board. I decided at that point to return the SF. It sure made good food while I had it!

Do you do this with everything that breaks down and the manufacturer attempts to resolve for you?

No. On this particular case Weber (huge fan and 30 year consumer) they offered the 100 day money back warrenty after the generation 1 issues. After having two bridging issues which seem to be a recurring issue and then it would not come on I was not interested in replacing major part like a circuit board. Weber made it right and now looking at buying their Summit. Would love to get some feedback on that.

Summit Charcoal?
Buy it, looks amazing.

So you gave up because of bridging? ALL pellet grills suffer from bridging, it's not unique to the SmokeFire. That's like saying you gave up your kid because he crapped his pants.

Give up? Nope still using pellets and my issues are significantly reduced.....more time to potty train jr!

Haha thought the same thing. JJ gets it!

Well, decent outcome at least.

I’ve seen these fuses go out in Traeger before but it is extremely rare. I’d think either just a bad fuse or some sort of electrical issue? I’m no electrician or electrical engineer by any means. Just seems as though the fuse would be a line of defense against a fatal issue with the controller. Hopefully some folks smarter than I chime in.
Fuse protects everything that is a connected load. If there were a “fatal” controller issue, the issue would be the controller and a new fuse would not fix it.
I have had to replace my fuse 2 years in. Same scenario.
Seems to be only on “power up” and for some reason inrush current exceeds the 1.6 amp rating (normal current draw is 85 watts at 120) and pops the fuse. Nuisance trips is what it is called. No operational issues when it happens on power up.

What I meant was it would protect the controller and, as you pointed out, everything else from a power surge that could be fatal to the system. Maybe it's best to just keep it powered up 😜? I've noticed mine turns itself off automatically now. I have to go out and switch it off and back on again to get it powered up. Happy Grilling!

The latest screen saver feature is part of the newest firmware that was pushed out. In fact you do not have to cycle the power just push the button and the display will come alive. You can leave it turned on if you’d like-

Summit charcoal - go for it! Summit gas - forget it (porcelain steel cookbox sucks). If you want a higher end gas grill look at the Napoleon Prestige 500RSIB, or pro version.
