Went to start up SF to grill some fish for dinner. Plugged in - turned the switch to on. Nothing. Stone cold dead.
It worked day before yesterday just fine. WTF. thought maybe a circuit breaker, power cord, etc. Nope, all good there.
Getting tired of giving excuses about why dinner will be a bit late.
Ya - I know I need to call Weber, I just wanted to vent and see if anyone else has experienced this.
Thankfully I still have my E-310. Never had to call Weber for that one.

Did you check the internal fuse ? It's located where the power cord plugs into the SF

Did not - when you say 'internal' I guess that means some degree of disassembly of the unit since I can't find any accessible fuse near the power cord plug in port. I'll do it tomorrow and if that is the case why on earth did they put that 'inside'????

NM - I see it now. My aging bad eyes really struggle with small things that are all in black surrounded by all things that are also black.
I'll deal with it tomorrow.

and BTW - THANKS!

Hope that's the issue, then it's a quick fix !!

Just make sure you get the exact one

I e had to replace this fuse twice

"Carefully inspect the fuse to confirm that it is blown" looks like a ceramic fuse shown in the video. Guess Weber didn't have an exact replacement on hand either.

Here is a link to suitable replacement fuses

Is this due to power surges or energy grid issues? Seems odd that this would go out ever under normal conditions.

Well - it WAS the fuse - thank you very much Don D. for the pointer. Now, as the 'why' part posed by JpsBBQ - good question and one I can't answer. WE didn't seem to have any other issues and I never leave SF plugged in when not in use. Hopefully a one-time thing; time will tell.

Well, decent outcome at least.

I’ve seen these fuses go out in Traeger before but it is extremely rare. I’d think either just a bad fuse or some sort of electrical issue? I’m no electrician or electrical engineer by any means. Just seems as though the fuse would be a line of defense against a fatal issue with the controller. Hopefully some folks smarter than I chime in.

Happy it was a quick fix, now please go to Jayjay1976's post above and buy spares..... I did although didn't blow one yet 🤞i think by the time you own the grill for 6 months, we are all certified SF technicians

You know I really don't trust my outdoor outlets, ever since I replaced the non-working one on my patio that was here when we moved in and discovered that it was most likely moisture that caused it to fail. Anything I plug in out there goes on a GFCI strip just in case. Good to know my SF has its own internal protection, already ordered some spare fuses to have on hand.
