For those of you receiving and using your SmokeFires do you guys have any initial thoughts on the new revamped app? Thoughts, concerns, or just any general comments?

I was hoping would have ability to change temps or initiate the startup or shutdown sequence.
I asked Weber customer service about the ability to control the grill since was referenced in some materials I’ve seen and got this response

“The new features will roll out shortly, and adjusting the temperature is information found in those models owner's guide currently. I'm sorry, but I can't directly tell you about features currently not offered.”

I read this as some type of control functionality wiLS be added since the manual says “even adjust the heat from the palm of your hand.”

i have had chance to actually cook anything yet to be able to give any real world opinions though, sorry.

I'm not sure we'll get the ability to turn the grill on remotely, seems like that might be a safety issue if you accidentally left the cover on (although the feature would be awesome). The app definitely feels unfinished. Not being able to change the temp remotely is a huge feature that should have been there day one. Also, the notifications seem to be broken. If the grill gets an error (low pellets), that doesn't come through. You do get a notice when the target temp is reached, but there is no sound with it. The recipes seem poorly laid out and are missing a ton of popular meats. All that being said, I think they're actively working on it and just can't say anything about it. Weber is a great company and I believe they'll make it right... eventually.

Totally agree and you're probably right on remote start being a safety issue. Part of why I ended up going with the SmokeFire was my experience with my other Weber grills and their customer service even with this being their first dive into pellet grills. I’m sure they will continue to improve the app.
