You may as well take that slide out of the hopper.
All it does is reduce capacity.
I took mine out at at the same time as the finger guard.

It felt more slippery than what’s under it.

It's the same material. They just added it to increase the slope hoping that will fix things.

You might want to try lining the chute with UHMW film tape to help the pellets slide into the chute easier. Link to tape on Amazon but I would not buy this size roll for your needs.

I pulled my slide insert out and then cleaned the hopper as best I could. Then I used a very liberal amount of PTFE Dry Lube spray, let it film over and then polished it with a clean dry rag. So far so good.
BTW - I did this for all sides of the hopper.
