I am receiving my new EX4 tomorrow and plan to do my initial burn-in.

I know the feedback on the forums are that Traeger pellets are not great on this grill and can cause problems, but anyone see any issues using up my old stock for the 30 minute burn-in?

I have Lumberjack pellets ready to go for my first cook in the weekend.

Personally, I used weber pellets when I first bought the SF in order to remove as many variables as I could in the hope everything would work well. While my SF works extremely well, obviously there are still reports of issues. If I were starting over again from the beginning, I would still do the same. I would recommend following the book to the letter, and using only weber pellets to start. Make sure to update the firmware and complete the update process...use known, good pellets AND REMOVE THE FINGER GUARD! lol! good luck man, I love my grill, hope you have a great time too

I’ve only used Weber also and removed the finger guard.

DudeMC, I had a question about your Pellet choice from the other thread, Have you tried Pellets other than the Weber brand? If so what were you results? With you having nearly 500 Lbs burnt, and me coming up on 200 Lbs (all of mine have been LumberJack Brand) It would be interesting to hear your experience. Did you have pellet grill experience prior to the SmokeFire?
