Problem Caused by Temporary Use of Smoke Boost

I spoke to Weber regarding this problem with Smoke Boost.

We confirmed that this should be the process.

Make sure you heat the BBQ up to a temperature less than 200 which is what Smoke Boost is set around.

Turn on and run Smoke Boost.

Turn off Smoke Boost and run BBQ normally.

This should work successfully!

So basically, as you guys have suggested, keep the temp down when firing up the BBQ.

I hasten to add the UK support person confirmed as it was a new feature he had not personally experimented or tested it himself.

I totally believe the service rep told you that but the smoke boost should work for you at any time. It’s only slightly different than just simply lowering your set temp. If I’m cooking at 450 and want to take something off and smoke boost something else or start a new cook, I should be able to do so. The grill is supposed to ramp down and commence with the smoke boost setting. keep an eye on it. Hope it works itself out. I know mine will do so because I’ve tested it.

Interesting and thanks for commenting.

Will certainly give it a go at a time when it is not important if it goes wrong!

Sorry to reply on such an old post, but I had this same issue happen to me. Did the suggestion from the support rep end up working out?

I disagree. It simply needs to not burn efficiently. Camp Chef for instance has variable smoke profile that can be used at any temperature. Most manufacturers keep the function below 225. But what they are doing is allowing the pellets to smolder by elimination of the fan intermittently. They force an inefficient burn. That is why Weber chose to not show the temperature during this function. Some people would be freaked out by the variable temperature swings. Ironically, people are also disturb by not being able to see the temperature. 😂
Agree. My PitBoss vertical has a Smoke feature and it does show temps. Swings around quite a bit. I chose to not care as I see the smoke billowing out as is proper.
