Got my grill and did the initial burn in. Took two tries for it to light. Did the update first. Weber pellets. First attempt it did not light. So it went to error 6 and shut down. Did the trouble shooting and then it lit right up the second try.

Anyways, that’s not my issue. My issue is the mess of ashes and the look of some of the components after the burn in. Note I hit the 600 degrees no problem and did a 40 minute break in burn.

Mine does the same thing, ash kinda goes everywhere. Hopefully the E6 error was a one-off.

I don't think mine was quite that bad, but there was another post on here a while ago that mentioned it being a rust preventative oil coating that was burning off. I don't think it's an issue, although it doesn't look great.
Thanks. That makes sense. It was coated with oil when I put it on.

I saw all of this with mine. For my second cook I lined the draw with foil. Cleanup I vacuum the dust out from inside the pit, and wiped the dust down from the outside. I've also seen this on videos others have posted to youtube.
The flaking off of the heat diffuser according to Weber when I asked their rep over the phone about this is an oil coating cooking off and will continue until it's cooked off. Mine had oil all over it when I removed it from the bag to install it.

Mine looked the same. I just vacuumed it up with the shop vac. I also noticed that it seems to let partially burned pellets into the ash tray, not sure how to resolve that unless i put a screen under the fire box...

I haven't noticed partially burned pellets, I will keep my eye out for those.

That’s normal. It’s a little messy but the results are worth it. Keep smoking and enjoy. If you have problems with heat reinstall your glow plug. Push it as far in as it can go. Happy Smoking🔥🔥🔥
