Pellet sensor failure

The Gen 2's still have the cotter pin (mine included).
Weber just started throwing them in so you will get both.
The bolt is a shear bolt so it will break just like the pin if the tight amount of force is applied.
You see and hear about pins breaking more than the bolt simply because there are more of them out there.

Hmmm. supposedly I have a Gen 2 but it has a [mis-installed] bolt and I didn't get any cotter pins when mine was delivered. I should add that it was assembled by the store that I bought it from. SO - if this is a shear bolt (which tend to have unique properties) and supposedly the newer preferred approach - where can I get a spare for the parts kit and curious that it not an item on the Weber website as a 'preventative maintenance' item like the glow plugs.

Will buy a cotter pin to have handy.

It's not the newer preferred approach.
They just started putting them in.
You could get a replacement auger today with a pin and next week one will come with a bolt.
As far as getting a spare as a preventative item, you would need to know the specs of it and go to a hardware store or similar. Weber don't sell the cotter pin so I don't see why they would sell the shear bolt.
I'm sure if you called and asked nicely they would probably send you one though (attached to an auger and motor knowing how they do things).
