New controller software and app update

The notifications worked properly until the last update.....

And third party software to interact and control proprietary software? I would trust it even less.

Been doing the same thing. Very interesting how hot and cold spots come up on either side on my grill at different temps. In the 400 range I see differences of 100+ degrees left side to right side. I keep telling myself that if I did this to my oven or other gas grill I would see the same thing. So far sub 300 temps have held fairly well.
Since 90% of my uses of the SmokeFire involve temperatures of 350F or below, I am fine with the variations as they do not materially impact the end results.

Weber support said that the team is working on a update to fix this that hopefully will be released in the “next coming weeks”. Sure hope so, I’ve missed low fuel, temp, and timer notifications. I’ve quit bothering setting up alerts at this point and just keep checking like I’m living in the dark ages of a few years ago :)

Wish it were sooner. I'm going to be doing my first overnight cook on the SF this weekend. Don't like hearing that notifications can be flakey. Though at least the "manual temp reached" and timer notifications worked for me on Android my last cook. Fingers crossed I guess.

Maybe only impacting iOS devices. Hopefully no issues for you. I‘m not getting any notifications unless I open the app and then will get all the ones that should have been sent already including manual temp reached and timers. I usually run timers on my watch or phone and the SF as I’ve had timers get lost on both, so I generally have a backup going depending on what I’m cooking.

All this time, I thought the app had to be running for all notifications to be sent.

This is an older thread that got posted to again. Yes, the app must be open to get notifications and the screen can not be closed.

I used to get notifications regardless of whether the app was active. Now I don’t. Now even if the app is open but the screen is not active I will not get a notification. I assume they will change that back.

The thing with this notification mess is that there has not been a iOS update, IIRC. It is on Weber.

Well, I may have to retract that last post. I just noticed another app that used to work that is having problems with notifications now. Maybe an Apple security update did something.
