Hi everyone,

Thanks to the admins for adding me. I’m a Weber charcoal fan and have been cooking on my Performer and Smokey Mountain smoker for over ten or more years. I’m pretty excited to add one of Webers pellet smokers and want to know what everyone’s opinion is on the advantages of either the EX4 or EX6. Is bigger better?

EX6 owner here.
The 6 will go through pellets faster due to it's size.
The 6 has a larger capacity for cooking. If you have a large family it's the way to go, or if you do a lot of entertaining. I've cooked 2 20 lb briskets before on mine.
If you can afford the 6 get it. You won't regret it

I could kick myself for not ordering it in summer when Weber had their price reduction promotion. I figured the EX6 would be worth the extra $200. Thanks Rexster314!

Used a Smokey Mountain for several years, switched to a Smokefire ex4 this Spring. Would NEVER go back. Love being able to to set a temp and not have to run and check outside every 15 mins now I can monitor fro my comfy CHAIR! I have only 1 major issue when the motherboard died but Weber shipped a new one while I was still on the phone to them. I have gone thru 12 bags of pellets smoking brisket, pulled pork, 14lb turkey and I don't know how many pcs of chicken and pork. I se my ex4 for smoking, bbqing and cold smoking. Could not be more pleased. Smoked meat loaf earlier this week when Temps outside were minus 10c

I have the EX4 due to space restrictions.
If you can afford the EX6 and have the room for it then go for it.
It's better to have the extra room and not need it than need it and not have it.

EX6 owner here…love the bigger capacity. I do large cooks every once in awhile. So the extra space is great. I also am a charcoal Weber fan. I go back to charcoal often. I currently own the EX6, spirit 300 gasser, 26” kettle, 22”mt, 22” ssp, 22” small performer, 18” kettle, and an 18”wsm. Always finding good stuff on offer up, buy cheap, resell for more…love grilling.

I had an ex4 and have an ex6.

When I had the ex4 I was bummed out that I didn't get the ex6. So if you really want to get an smokefire go for the ex6.

That being said. As a regular user of the smokefire I wouldn't recommend it to anyone anymore. Too much stuff going on with it. Failures etc. That being said tho customer service is always in point I don't know how that is with other brands. But when my smokefire dies I will not buy one anymore.

You are now no longer my favorite poster….lol. How could you betray the SmokeFire community? In all seriousness though, I do understand…if mine went poop tomorrow I would probably go a different brand too…Ive said otherwise in the past but Traeger makes good stuff…

Well it's also the design... Those 3 big holes in the back... I live on a river so often windy so makes the temp in the bbq fluctuate. I think smokers with a chimney are a better design..

I like the rectec. Too bad they stopped shipping to Canada.

That just means it's not suitable for how you use it.

But. For every poster dissing the SF, there are many more happy satisfied users. I've been using one since November 2020. First several months were not real great, software and app would puke every so often. But since last spring, it's been rock solid, one flameout that was my fault, and an auger/chute that got replaced under warranty. I've gotten to where I will clean out the grill about every two months. Everything works as it should, and I'm happy. When this goes belly up I'm thinking of getting a Lone Star Grillz pellet smoker, but it's better than twice the price of the Weber.

This 💯

I love my EX4 and most of the time the size it fine for my family of four but there are definitely times I wish had the EX6. Especially when wanting to use multiple cast iron skillets.

The smoke fire is a fantastic smoker but I think the way they marked it as being able to smoke and then go to a high degree and grill is misleading. You really can’t do that unless you’re constantly cleaning it out or using drip pans to keep it clean and it just isn’t realistic for me. I use mine primarily to smoke and use my Weber gas grill for searing and things like that. I use mine a few days a week but I rarely go above 300°.

Still available in Canada that's where my EX4 resides since May 2021 I just put duct tape over 2 of the vents when wind or a better smoke is required ( especially when cold smoking)
