Gave My New Weber Wok GBS Its First Go Tonight

Ordered one up, had some Amazon points burning a hole.
Better get you some of those good high heat gloves if you don’t already have some. As you are aware, I’m sure, the Smokefire puts out some intense heat compared to other pellet cookers. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve backed away during a high heat cook. Enjoy. I’m looking forward to some stir fry pics.

& Some high heat trousers :D, as cooking at 600F on this or my cast iron plancha, it gets quite hot between the knees and groin area as well, standing next to the Smokefire grilling burgers or stir frying.

Joking apart though, it really does get hot around that area stood by it for any period of time, might look at one of those leather aprons next year 🥵

Enjoy it, are you going to look for a suitable lid for it for steaming or just use it as a Wok

Nice , enjoy. Did a simple Pork Fillet Stir Fry tonight so tasty, really enjoying this bit of equipment and means I'm using my Smokefire even more often now :)

Looking forward to my first go Friday. I’m doing chicken with a garlic red chili sauce, haven’t picked the veggies but yours look great.

Damn now you made me need a wok.
Like mentioned on another forum, check out the lodge CI wok, cheaper and works with the GBS. I enjoyed my cook but man I’m not 100% sold on the Weber, it’s crazy rough and not what I consider porcelain enameled.

I've got a few Lodge skillets and Dutch Ovens & I'd say my Weber Wok mine is no rougher than any of them tbh.

Personally I'd have been the opposite to you and even though it says porcelain enamelled. I'd have been disappointed if it had been any smoother than it is and not the cast iron feel I'd have wanted and got overall. I'd have worried about chipping if it had been fully porcelain enamelled (Assume you mean shiny black and smooth)? as well, different expectations for different people I suppose.

Good shout for the Lodge Wok, always excellent well made products that last and a bonus if they fit in with the GBS system. But have to say the added basket and lid combo we are offered in the UK with the Wok makes a big difference for steaming etc and makes the purchase a bit more useful and palatable price wise?

Anyway fabulous cook, looks very tempting and pleasing to the eye.

Duck & prawn stir fry tonight. Tell you what it gets really hot standing next to the Smokefire cooking at 600F. Weber need to release some heatproof branded underpants as it gets very hot around the nutsack at that sort of temp & period of time 😅😅

I’ve singed the hair off my arm multiple times making pizza. :)

Just love the stir fry cooks. I haven’t done any myself in probably a year or more. That has to change. Thanks for the continued inspiration.

Joking apart, it gets seriously hot on the outside of the bottom part of the Smokefire when grilling at 600F. I like to do burgers and steaks on a cast iron plancha along with mushrooms and onions, so need to stand over it when cooking so it doesn't burn and flip them etc along with Wok cooking, which needs attending to.

I realise you can wear an apron, but they're not for me, but it gets very hot around the knacker area standing over the grill for a period of time.

Going to have to sew a leather patch around the groin area to protect them I reckon :)
