Bought the Weber Wok and Steamer part of the GBS system it's first cook tonight a very basic Duck Stir Fry with Oyster Sauce, performed admirably

Seasoned it first with a coating of Groundnut oil inside and out for 90 minutes on the grill upside down at 410F (May not be needed according to the instructions, but I always season new cast iron so did it with this) I do it on the grill as it can smoke like mad in the cooker indoors,

Meal cooked at 450F lovely to cook outdoors over heat with this, very pleased with it and the size of it.

To wash it put a small squirt of Washing Up Liquid with hot water inside washed out with a dishcloth and used a Lodge scraper for 1 slight piece where it caught on the side, took 2 minutes and came as clean as any other piece of cast iron I own.

Reseasoned and ready to go for next time

The duck stir fry looks amazing. Thanks for the information on the wok was looking to get one and I think you just pushed me over the edge to do it.

You get the Grill basket & lid for steaming with it as well and the grill basket can be used separately for vegetables, fish or delicate meats to grill in it. Got mine for £45 (about $55) so an absolute bargain at UK prices

That is one of the best accessories I own. I have the GBS grates for my 22" and Genesis and will be adding to the Smokefire soon... You are going to love it.

I think I will to, impressed with the size and quality of it, planning on steamed mussels tomorrow.

In fact all of the GBS stuff I already have as well The GBS Poultry Roaster and Cast iron Sear Grate, so well constructed with the materials used and general size of them.

Tempted to get the pizza stone in the future. I got the Large Fish basket with the Wok as well, It's really big, but looks as if it might be a right so & so to clean if the skin flakes onto it.

Yeah buddy!

Mussels In White Wine & Saffron

Wanted to try the steamer part of it today (without the basket) It performed admirably, really impressed with this piece of equipment with the Smokefire

Sautéed the Shallots and Garlic In Butter at 375F for a couple of minutes to soften

Added some Saffron, Fish Stock and 3 cups of Wine and bought to the boil at 425F

Turned back down to 375F added 2kg of Mussels and put lid on

IMG_1030.JPG

Steamed for a little over 10 minutes, due to the quantity

Removed mussels and added lemon zest and some more butter to the sauce and bought back to the boil for 3 minutes at 450F

Poured sauce over mussels and served with crusty bread

The basket and lid aren't available in the US, just the wok. Mark me down as a tad jealous. I do feel your pain on the cleaning part... I struggle to find a balance between "well used patina" and "ewww."

It's not often here in the UK/Europe were offered more than yourselves in the States when it comes to purchasing things. The Smokefires over here came with the GBS grills supplied with them at the point of sale & we seem to have a wider range of GBS accessories to purchase than yourselves. Must be something to do with the popularity of the items on this side of the ocean to yourselves?

Bull$&@“ it’s not offered here, just the wok is $69. I do want be though.
That's what Hood33 said as he owns it, that you only get the Wok not the steamer basket & lid as well, that's why I was comparing the difference in the product there and in the UK with him. Neither of us have said the Wok itself isn't available to purchase over there

I could be wrong but I think he was meaning to say it’s BS (on Weber) for not offering it all in the US.

Yeah, I'll never understand Weber's logic behind why some things aren't available in the states. Perusing the GB site I see MANY cool things- like the cast iron pizza stones, the serving platters, salt & pepper shakers.... Maybe it is a blessing we can't get it all. I'd be even more broke. : )

We pay considerably more than you over there for our grills and accessories. But one of the big retailers over here had 50% off the whole Weber BBQ range and accessories they sell here last week, it was absolute madness for Weber fans over here for a few days,. Pretty well cleared there stock out hence why I got the Wok and Fish basket at prices I haven't seen before or likely to see again here.

But even with the 50% off hardware the Traveller was the equivalent of 275 USD reduced from 550 USD and the Gensesis S310 680 USD from1360 USD for instance, so even our 50% off prices aren't far off your normal rrp on BBQ's :)

I can assure you many BBQ enthusiasts look at prices you pay for BBQ's over there with a great deal of envy. The Smokefire Ex4 currently retails for the equivalent of 1785 USD and the EX6 2125 USD and Weber Pellets 26 USD a bag. I'd have happily sacrificed GBS grill grates for your sort of prices and bought them myself.
