Flame out, please talk me down!

20 minute job they said! Nope!!! At least not for me. It’s finished but a big pain in the a$$ replacing the thermocouple. I have taken this grill apart waaaay too many times. 😡

Haha.. who told you 20min?
Michael, the Weber support dude that sent out the part. What are the chances he has actually replaced any part in a Smokefire? Probably not good.

Did you do it by yourself? That makes it even harder.

Yeah, by myself. I hoping this fixes it once and for all. I‘m going to attempt a whole chicken tomorrow.

Good luck. So far mine seems to work about flawlessly half the times I use it and the rest of the time there seems to be some sort of calamity with some aspect of the thing. And the times it did work great, I was always waiting for something to go south. Not something I would buy again based on my experiences.

Yup, this might be my last shot at it. If it keeps misbehavin, I’ll probably get a Camp Chef or Green Mountain Instead. Tomorrow I’m going to try Smokeboost on it. Lower temps are what always causes problems.

Honestly, SB is a waste of time. It puts out plenty of smoke at 225.
SB can be a crapshoot at the best of times unless things are just right so I wouldn't base any decisions on the outcome.

If the burn pot is clean, the finger guard is removed and you are using the correct pellets.. Things will be just fine.

Both of those brands are fine pellet cookers. Norther holds a candle to the Smokefire IMO. Too bad you’re having such a bad time. Sometimes things just aren’t meant to be. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s about a 20 minute job but does require another set of hands. I wouldn’t even bother trying it alone. I’d be as pissed as Mark.

Yeah, I REALLY want to like this thing and I do when it works, but it needs to be reliable for me. I think I’ll take the advice though and set it for 225 for awhile rather than smokeboost. I have done a lot of work on it since the flameout happened so I have high hopes.

Well, I made it through a cook trouble free. Started it at 225 for the first 45 minutes or so then 350 degrees for the rest. It worked flawlessly, so hoping the trend continues. Chicken turned out moist and smoky! Hopefully all the time and work has paid off!
