Customer service seems to have gone down

The cover seems to get less and less waterproof as time and use goes on. After 10 months I would say mine is 'water-resistant' at best.
I think the early covers may have had issues.
20 months and going strong.

That shelf is made of thin metal and should be stainless. I’m surprised Weber even flinched before sending that.

I believe those parts can’t hold up to the 600 degree inferno that the beast becomes when on full blast.

I have had amazing customer service from Weber I hope it continues, especially as us day one guys will be out of warranty soon.

I have replacement parts and don’t really use my SmokeFire as a grill anymore. I do miss doing that though and may just take my chances.

My first cover for the SF leaked at the seams but the replacement they issued keeps all water out.
I keep my DEC 2020 EX4 outside under a cover all year and have never had an issue with water ingress or rust.
It's strange that some have the issue and some don't.
Gremlins….?

I’ve had three shelves replaced already each time I told them I was concerned with the potential longevity of the SmokeFire. I get some parts are consumabl but the shelves are a weak point at least for me. So far Weber has replaced them but I’m sure at some point they won’t once my SF as they told me warranty runs out in 2023. I got my grill when released Feb 2020.

It’s been covered since day 1. Though I’ve noticed that starting to get water in the ash drawer now.

Cover seems more like a defense against the sun, than a water proof experience.

Mine went back today . I wanted to like it

They just didn't want to help just return it they said?
They were helping.
You just didn't like what they were telling you along with members of this group and a facebook group you are part of.
They gave you the option of returning it since it was still in the 100 day window and you accepted it.
The real problem is that it just wasn't what you wanted it to be, which is fine.

I just send in a message about the inside items all beginning to fall apart. Rust, corrosion, whatever. We'll see what they say. Disappointing for the price and the fact it's 25 months old.

Mine was always in the garage when I lived in NY. Now it's outside but covered. Not humid or rainy in Nevada.

A coworker just bought a Rectec. I'll be checking with him to see how he likes it over time.

I live in a mild climate, had some if the thinner parts corrode. Weber sent replacements. My buddy bought an RT-700 and he’s been hard on it, it doesn’t look all that great after a couple years either.

Some of the thinner parts could be heavier, no doubt. That said, there is a diminishing return on the build quality(heaviness) of all these cookers. They simply aren’t intended to last a lifetime like a 1/4” steel offset that costs 10k. Additionally, much of the cost is buried in the technology rather than the raw materials. While $1000 bucks is a significant amount of money, it’s not really very much relative to the industry as a whole. Even if I have to buy a few parts every few years, it’s still a great value given the incredible performance of the cooker. Most important is the skeleton of the thing which is enamel coated or cast aluminum. Bullet proof.
