Hey there, I'm sure a lot of you are big fans of slow smoked baked beans, as am I. Lots of recipe variables to play with from the meat used to flavor them to all of the ingredient options to tune in your perfect recipe..
Have you ever wondered whether the beans themselves could be upgraded? Opening up a bunch of canned beans always feels like cheating so I prefer starting with dry beans myself, which also eliminates that "canned vegetable" taste, but dried beans can go bad too. If they sit around too long, either in your pantry or somewhere along the way to your local grocer, they dry up completely and just won't cook up tender at all. I started searching online for fresher dried beans and discovered an online retailer in CA who sells not only farm-fresh dry beans, but heirloom varieties that are hard or impossible to find elsewhere.
I'm not here shilling for a specific brand so I won't mention the site I order from, just wanted to share for everyone's awareness that there are better beans out there for those willing to go the extra mile.
