I'm doing baked beans (for 100!) tomorrow. Any hints? I have 4 giant cans of beans. I'm going to split them into foil pans with the extras (probably cooked bacon, onion and brown sugar/molasses) and then cook on the SmokeFire. Then I'll dump them in a roaster and take them to the meeting.

Any thoughts? Recipe recommendations?

heck out hey grill guy, smoked baked beans recipe. have made it 4 times so far and is a family favorite

I have a recipe. It’s like kind of extensive but have made for 200 before. Just have to x it. This is a single recipe probably should feed 20. I would at least x4 or x5.
I also suggest you have someone serve them…more control over portion size. When we did for 200 we did x12 and everyone got some but its was the first thing we ran out of….they are extremly popular here. I’ve had people ask for them just by themselves for parties.

My family has made this or a slight variation of this for decades. Delicious !

I ended up doing 4 117oz cans of Bush's Bacon and Brown Sugar Beans. Cooked 2 lbs of bacon (in the oven), saved the grease and cooked 3 onions in the grease until they were just starting to fry a bit. Drained the beans mostly, reserving some of the liquid. Each can of beans went in its own foil pan. Added some bacon and onions. Then mixed in about a cup of Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce ("The Sauce is the Boss") per can. Added the bean liquid to where it looked like there would be enough to thicken.
Stuck them on the smoker uncovered at I think 255 for an hour and a half, rotating everything once. Then I lowered to smoke boost (wrong order probably, but wanted to slow them down).

They were enjoyed, but there was so much other food, none of it was finished except for the meat and french fries.

I was disappointed with how little smoke flavor they picked up.

That’s a lot of beans. Nice job. I tend to to go pork n beans drained a little, some diced red or yellow peppers, diced onion, brown sugar and good amount of Jack Stack BBQ sauce.

Stay upwind of everyone? Seriously, you can play with the batches, maybe throw some pork belly into one pan, smoked sausage into another. If you've got some brisket or pork shoulder in the freezer, that's always cool too. Making beans is a good way to get leftovers out of the freezer.
