B + B Pellets

I have nothing against B& B or any others really. I’m just saying the use of soybean oil is not bad or harmful and it’s a marketing effort by the competitors to convince people that it is. People use briquettes all the time and they have contained soy binders for decades. The cheap ones contain 50% fillers but people don’t hesitate.

I’m just saying the whole issue is ridiculous. If you wish to believe it’s a real concern in any way, go ahead. 🤦🏼‍♂️
My point is you're making an issue out of a non-issue. Who cares about briquettes and their makeup in a conversation about wood pellets? Where does soybean oil come into play talking about 100% wood? Your horse is dead. Doesn't need anymore beating

Maybe you need to go back and try RE- reading the thread. My comments weren’t about your pellets per se they were about Traeger pellets. Another poster mentioned he won’t use Traeger pellets which prompted me to respond about Traeger pellets and it went from there. You simply got offended like it was an attack on your post when it wasn’t. It was about how people think Traeger pellets are bad because of some soy oil. I pointed out that’s wrong and misinformed and for some reason you feel attacked. Maybe because you fear soy oil. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I have no idea. Then another poster said NOBODY WOULD PUT OIL IN A PIT. So I pointed out that soy oil is in every briquette which are used by thousands of world class pitmasters. That’s why I brought up briquettes. Get it? People put soy oil in their pits routinely but they aren’t afraid because nobody has falsely. Scared them into being scared. Geez. It’s not about your pellets. Not everything is about your pellets. My point is about Traeger pellets and the fact that people have been misinformed for years on the internet. I hate when people think soy oil is somehow bad because people like you have been conditioned to think so. I hope you don’t season your meat. Oh the horror. The meat should be 100% meat. Never a binder. And for the record, I’ll keep beating the horse until it finally sinks in that a trace amount of soy oil in a pellet is not a bad or dangerous thing. If you prefer to use one without, that’s not bad either. I also wonder how other companies lubricate their machines if not with some sort of food grade oils? It’s hilarious. They have to use something. Machines don’t run without lubrication. I’m sorry you have been hood winked for years but it really doesn’t matter. Use whatever you want.

Just to keep beating the horse and hopefully educating people, here is more actual information about Traeger pellets. Which I do not recommend for a Smokefire but are perfectly fine for Traeger’s. This points out that the flavored oils are in the few specific blends. (Realtree, turkey blend, and lienenkugles)
Again I ask you how other manufacturers lubricate their manufacturing equipment. Do they use a food grade oil? Hmmm?

the more you write about Traeger pellets and soy oil, just takes you further from the original conversation. Your knowledge of this is actually underwhelming

It's hard for people to admit when they're wrong. I assume reading is an issue for you. I totally understand. I'll not let this bother me like it clearly bothers you. Keep up the great cooks and enjoy! 🤷‍♂️

BTW @rexster314 did you click the link and read it? Slowly now. I assume not based upon your response.

I'm late to this whole Traeger pellet thing so I will just say this.
Regardless of what they put in them, they are a crappy pellet and there are better things out there.
That's just my opinion and I'm not going to justify it.
If people want to use them, that's their choice and it's fine.

I'm late here too. When I first got my EX4 the store gave me a bag of Treager. First cook was a chicken. Granted I was new with the SF but the reviews were not good around the dinner table. I dumped the rest of the bag in the garden as mulch. Plants seemed happy.
