Another cook another problem

I’ve had that issue probably four or five times now. The glow plug tends to fail either right then or shortly after. I’ve gotten a few through warranty and bought a couple on my own so I could have something here waiting in case I wanted to use the cooker. Yeah that’s sad isn’t it. I’m sorry you’re having bad experiences with it. At least here in Indiana it’s getting to be a better weather so the summit charcoal cooker is out and ready to roll.
If the glow plugs are failing its likely due to installation, I believe. They should last for years. I’ve heard if not seated properly they fail due to poor connectivity or something? All I know is they are a simple item and their wear life should be very high. Good luck.

Two of mine have been related to fires and I know at least one of the remaining three has been related to I seared some steaks, did not have any fire but after that cook it didn’t work at all.

Huh? I cook at 500 and above at least twice a week and usually more and have never had an issue. The glow plug projects into the fire pot which by its very name is where the fire is located. I haven’t cleaned mine in months now and have yet to have any issues. I amazed. Now watch, I’ll have a problem now that I said something. 🤣

Good Luck in the future

I really hope I did not jinx you. On the sunny side I did a simple rack of baby back’s on Sunday. Are used a pecan rub from John Henry and pecan pellets. I know pecan is somewhat mild but it really didn’t project the taste into the meat at all. The meat had a really good smoke ring at all but it just didn’t seem to Transfer. I’m not blaming that on the Weber. Those were lumberjack pellets.

My SmokeFire is telling me to replace my glow plug, I will probably do that this weekend. I plan on using the hose clamp trick as well.

Mine did that for months. I just went into the menu and told it I did. Still fine.

Was wondering about that, I’m going to do that right after work today.
If you remember any of the steps to make it easier let me know.
thanks!

I think I hit the menu button or the plus button and scrolled down to that line and then told it I changed it. Confirmed is the language I believe. Not 100% sure.

Did you have to keep telling it? Or did it take it a while to annoy you enough to do it? (sounds like the printer that says its out of toner...)

It was the latter. 😂

Used my new Smokefire EX4 for 1st time today. Pellets didn't slide down ramp from auger into firebox very well. They actually hang up on a lip around fire box. And pellets caught on fire up that ramp and into auger. Never got to temp (500 deg). Supposed to be a Gen 2.

You have to remove the wire guard for one, but I suspect something else is wrong here. I’d suggest posting some pictures of your unit and where it sits and the insides etc. to help us help you. Pellets not falling down the chute is not normal or a common issue at all. Might be assembled wrong or sitting at a severe angle? Interesting.

Actually was assembled wrong (local hardware store assembly). It was their first one assembled...they have an X6 in the box. I'll make sure they won't make the same mistake. The next buyer might not be as loyal Weber user as me. Bought my first Genesis 3 in 1986....now have one at home, one at the lake, and one at the hunt camp.

Mine had some indicator in the wrong place on the firebox. There was a sticker that indicated orienting the top piece in the wrong direction. This was the part with the hole that the ramp rests on.
