Weber smoke fire gen 2
Smoke fire gen 2 temp going up and down doing brisket last 12 hours worked fine , today had error e3 flame , restarted stirred pellets all ok. Now about every half hour temp drops from 275f to about 135 get alert ,stir pellets temp goes back up happens again temp drops way down then back up. Took dog house off , auger turns slowly and pellets come , put back together and happens again. Please help

Maxdog, look at your auger. I had a similar situation where my temps were going up and down. The auger’s pin was creating a large hole in the auger causing it to slip at times.

Thx very much I’ll check it out, bought it used , I noticed it came with an auger and a heavy metal housing and igniter I assume auger or shear pins can wear out ?

The mistakes I have made with maintenance on the SmokeFire is truly school of hard knocks. One thing I have done in the past is leave the pellets in the hopper for way too long. They tend to soak up the moisture and swell up over time. The auger would get cake in pellets over time. I would try to use a screwdriver to chip away the stuck on pellets. I know only use two pellets: Royal Oak Charcoal Pellets (water and moisture resistant) and Smokin Pecan Shell Pellets (decent at water and moisture resistant). I feel completely safe leaving in the charcoal pellets in-between cooks.
