Grill
Searwood 600
Hi, everyone:

I am looking to buy my first pellet grill and have almost decided to get the searwood 600.

I think I'd like to get the XL version, but those seem to be hard to find. Even the weber site doesn't have them. The 600's are much more readily available and would probably satisfy my needs, but many have said they'd wished they'd have gotten the bigger one.

Does anyone know if or when the XL's might become more readily available?

Also, I heard the Weber cover for these grills don't cover the whole grill. Is this the same for both sizes of grills? The pictures I've seen appear to cover the lower shelf, but do show a couple inches of the wheels.

Anyway, after several weeks of research, it appears that the Searwood would be an excellent choice.

Thanks for any input that can be given to my concerns.

I was not in a hurry to have a pellet grill. Like you, I did my research and decided on the Searwood 600XL. I ordered mine through ACE Hardware. Took a little over three weeks to receive, and ACE Hardware assembled and delivered to me at no cost. If you have the time to wait, order what you want. The Cover fits over the unit, but does not go to the ground. It has velcro straps to hold it in place, and they work. Had 80 mph winds the other day, moved the grill six feet and turned it 90 degs, on my patio.

Welcome to the forum @Rumbarrel 🍻 Acehardware and BBQ guys appear to have the XL in stock:

Check out this thread for details on the Weber branded Searwood cover:

I'd get the XL unless you won't be making a lot of food at once, the 600 is just way to small, my xl seems almost to small

I shopped pellet rigs for two years before deciding on the larger Smokefire, not for the extra capacity, but because I'm able to cook everything on the top grate and use the bottom grates to hold drip pans. No grease buildup means no flareups and makes cleanup super easy, just sweep the ash into the collection drawer.

Welcome to the group. I own a 600 and have never wanted for bigger. Would it be nice? Probably. I received my Searwood after winning a local radio contest. I had a pit boss before and never knew what real smoked meat was supposed to taste like. Get what you want, even if you have to wait. You won’t be disappointed in a Weber. BTW, I reused my Amazon generic cover and it covers just fine.

Really? I sometimes feel my XL 600 is almost to small, but again I also do have a family of 5,

Ace hardware can order it for you and I think they do free assembly and delivery.

I’ve smoked 3 racks of ribs at once (that was tight), 2 10lb pork butts, grilled 20 burgers plus brats to feed 10 ppl. It def forces you to plan better, but I don’t mind that
