I Need Help - Searwood XL 600 Griddle

I cooked my first burgers on the griddle attachment for the Searwood. Everything started well. I heated the griddle to 425, smashed the burgers, and started cooking. But the grill/griddle cooled very quickly before the flip. Is there a trick to keeping the griddle hot with lid open?

I am a new searwood xl-600 owner as well and still learning. Set it to manual at level 10 and let it get hot first. I haven't done a burger yet but it worked fine for breakfast earlier this week.

Manual mode. If you're gonna gook with the lid up, crank that sucker up.
Got it. I'll use regular mode to warm up to desired temp...then switch to manual mode 10 and see how it does. Thanks!
