Howdy Folks,
Just discovered this forum. Have owned a Genesis II three-burner grill since 2017. Purchased a Slate 30 earlier today to compliment the grill and hope to be griddling this weekend. Looking forward to learning tips and tricks from all the seasoned (pun-intended) grill- and griddle-masters on here!

Welcome. I got a griddle for my SearWood 600, but I haven't used it yet. I also got a can of the Weber seasoning grease, but I haven't even opened it yet. I want to add a few more layers of seasoning to the griddle before I try to use it.

i hear that - i just seasoned the griddle a couple times today. I used avocado oil for the seasoning - high smoke point and non-seed. Have not yet cooked any food on it.

What are the advantages / disadvantages of using Weber seasoning grease to season a griddle? I’m completely new to griddling, so any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

I have none. I've never seasoned anything before in my life, so this will be a learning experience. If the griddle seasoning works, I have a few cast iron pans inside the house that need to be thoroughly cleaned and seasoned as well.
