Hi all. A bit of a rant here. Been going through glow plugs like they're going out of style. Finally went to replace it again after just one use, and could not get the plug out of the holder. Started to disassemble the holder to see why, and the temp resistant plastic had melted and wouldn't let go. Couldn't find the part number in the manual, but found the part diagram #41 with no name. Went to Amazon, and couldn't find a repacement. Went to Weber.com, nothing. Went to Lowes where I bought it and they don't carry it anymore. Went to 3 other hardware stores that use to carry it, now no one carries it?!?!?!. I've had other issues with the pellets getting stuck during a long cook. Anyway, there are a few other issues as well, but you get the point. The grill isn't even a year old. I'm a long time Weber owner, and their grills are the mark of excellence in my opinion, well until the SmokeFire
If someone could give me the part number, that would be appreciated. I think it my be time to go back to a standard grill. Do other pellet grills have these issues?

Thanks. - Phil

Reach out to customer service they will take care of you. Weber has amazing customer service.
I’m an original owner, 3 years and 2 months and I’m still on my first glow plug. I’ve cooked a ton of stuff too.

I would check to see if mine is melted together but I don’t want to jinx it. It’s now out of warranty.

I finally changed mine out not long ago. 3 years of very heavy use. The key is making sure it’s seated properly. Tons of people think it’s seated when it’s not. This is the main cause of premature failure.

You cannot just walk into a store and buy the part.
You need to contact Weber directly and get the part from them.

As already stated, make sure the glow plug is seated correctly and that the ground connection is solid (putting a small hose clamp on the connection can ensure this).

I can guarantee you this is what caused the issue and also that the glow plugs you replaced previously would still be just fine (unless you have tested with a multimeter and confirmed otherwise).

OG owner here also and I am still running on the Original glow plug. However Weber did send me 3 glow plugs about 2 years ago, holding on to them

I agree - I wish I had some insight as to why some people have issues with the glow plugs - I'm on my original as well...and it is stored outside all year long in the rainy PNW with just its original Weber cover over it. So sorry you're having issues - trust in Weber customer service...which is something the other brands definitely don't have. Good luck!

They are not properly grounded.
It's really that simple.

My glow plug would do the same thing. Would stop working durning startup ,usually after a cleaning of the grill. Narrowed the problem down to a bad ground on the glow plug. The little tab on the glow plug has to be perfect on the flat part of the connector or you get a bad connection which causes the glow plug not to heat up. My glow plug would sitting just forward of the flat side of the nut and would not give a good connection.
Solved this problem by using a small hose clamp to secure the glow plug to the connector and I haven't had any problems since.I wonder if Weber knows about this as they keep sending people glow plugs which in my case wasn't the issue.
