Smoke fire ex4
Just purchased my first pellet smoker after using a smoky mountain for several years. I loved the Smoky mountain but the cleanup and fuss plus the fact that I needed a new gas grill made me grab the smoke fire ex4 on prime day.

Any advice for a noob? ’m learning the smoke fire might have issues despite the high ratings online. Anything I should do to make my experience better and prevent issues?

I’m excited to learn from you all.

i also own a smokefire ex4 since over 2 years and had no issues.

i'd recommend using drip pans and doing a cleanup of the grill chamber bottom, flavorizer bars and grates after every cook to prevent grease fire.

hopefully you also enjoy the ex4 like me.

Thank you Matt! I saw someone else recommended the drip pan. Excuse my ignorance but do you put it right on top of the flavorizer bars?

You would have to put the meat on the top rack, pan underneath on bottom rack.

i've bought stainless steel pans which fit on the flavorizer bars. so i can use both grates for cooking.

Welcome to the forum @4everinbeta 🍻

Experiment with different pellets until you find something that works well for you. I'm a fan of bear mountain pellets.

Let us know how the first smoke goes!

I found the much lauded Lumber Jacks available about 25 minutes away, $13,99. I already have Bear Mountain apple and hickory. I'm going to get both Lumber Jacks', and will have a basis of comparison.

unfortunately it's a german company, so i don't know if they ship to the us.
but i'm sure you can get pans with the same specs from companies located in the us 🙂

depending on the meat i put 1 horizontally in the middle of the grill or 2 of them vertically in the left and right corner of the grill 🙂
