Short of some serious metal work, can't be done without un-leveling the grill.

These retractable casters work great.
Adding the side shelf made it easier to lift than the standard grab bar because of the leverage and increased foot room but the casters make it very easy to move.

Are the legs still touching the ground?

Yes, the legs are touching ground when released. When casters are engaged it is probably a 1/2 off ground at least. I roll it out of garage over a drain and up a slight grade no problem.
Also, I did not use the template that came with the casters. I used the existing bolt that goes through leg into bottom shelf on the top hole of caster and then drilled the rest of the holes with bracket in place.
