Burns in ash/grease drawer

I have a feeling this may be the case for everyone, but you never know until you ask. The front of the clean out drawer usually just has ash in it, and the grease pan has grease and some ash. But I noticed the the back of the drawer has partial pellets, presumably that fell though the firepot, and therefore a bunch of burn marks. Hopefully the material does not become compromised because of that. For those of you that have had the grill for a while, does the drawer seem to be holding up to the burning pellets that fall though?

If you never cleaned that back section of the drawer again, you wont live long enough for it to become a problem.

I have that happen pretty regularly. So far only issues are discoloration in the tray.

It will depend upon how much you run the SF at higher temps which have embers flying.

Pull entire tray out. The pan will have both ash and grease as it is located below the grease management trough and openings. The rest of the pan will collect ash and such. Dump out grease/ ash or dispose of the pan and dump the drawer. Return the drawer with cleaned our pan or new pan. No worries, the tray serves no other purpose.

Done.

Mine does the same minus the grease. I just vacuum it out.

Figure I have 4 more years to worry about that drawer, if it looks horrible by the time the warranty is up I’ll send Weber some pics and probably get a new one. They have the best customer service in the industry.

Mine looks the same. My guess is it supposed to catch them. A quick vacuum and done. I have noticed some small embers popping out of the box and dropping on the ground. To address this I just put a BBQ mat beneath the SF. Weber says they are harmless and I tend to agree as they seem to be dying as they fall out but I live in California so I am using the mat out of caution.
